For your immediate Attention:
Advisor Andoren; my apologies for the nature of this letter, but I fear that King Helseth’s initial appraisal of the threat posed by Frathen Drothan may have been premature. You know well my trust in the judgement of the King, but I have learned new, disturbing details which may give him cause to re-consider the decision to ignore this matter.
As expected, Drothan has received no support from the Great Houses, but has gathered strength in the form of mercenary soldiers. I realize King Helseth anticipated this, but I do not believe he anticipated Drothan being able to hire so many. My sources are still attempting to discern where this unexpected wealth is coming from. We have yet to rule out the possibility of funding from within Morrowind’s borders.
We also have interviewed several scholars with whom Drothan has been in communication during recent months. His interests seemed keenly focused on Mehrunes Razor. Drothan went to great lengths to keep his academic contacts separate, and now that they have been cross-referenced, we’re becoming convinced he has a chance at recovering the artifact. Worse, we suspect he’s going to try and recover it from an excavation site within Cyrodiil borders.
I need not remind you of Morrowind’s tenuous relationship with the Empire. While Drothan may not stand a chance against the Legion, possessing the Razor may give him courage enough to try. If that happens, I’m not sure even I could convince Ocato and the Council of your innocence in the matter.
I implore you, re-visit the matter at the Royal Palace, a pray send word that the good King Helseth intends to resolve the matter internally. The Oblivion Crisis has caused arguably greater turmoil in Cyrodiil than any other province. Drothan is the last matter I wish to trouble my superiors with at this time.
With the utmost respect,

Well, I just completed this quest this morning, and have to say that it was excellent fun. The dungeon you have to explore is simply massive, with loads of bad guys to kill, and things to do. Well worth the 250 points.
what does the dagger say whats its effect ???
does it say instant kill 5 uses or does it say nothing at all what is it like ???
noud, the Mehrunes’ Razor weapon has two enchantments. The first is Disintegrate Armour, which is ok, but the second is Daedric Banishing on Strike. Basically what the second enchantment does is give your character the chance to produce an instant kill on your enemy. This does not always work (if it always worked the game would be too easy) but rather just gives you a chance of it producing an instant kill.
I finished the Mehrune’s Razor quest on my Xbox-360 this evening and have mixed sentiments. First thing I want to blurt out is that the razor does not kill on first strike and this was bitterly disappointing to me. I had three fights after equipping the razor and in each fight the razor did 12 damage points (I’m a level 36 Nord Agent) per strike in addition to its 15 points of disintegrate armor per strike. No instant kills. In fact, the only ‘instant’ kill I got with it–and I’m not joking, is a single strike kill on a fricken mud crab. Apparently, the razor has the ‘chance’ to kill an opponent with a single strike and that’s all. I have yet to have such luck. That being said, the quest itself was actually quite fun and well worth the 3 bucks. I downloaded a few other modules and plan to play those next but for everyone who is lusting after the famed Mehrune’s Razor in the belief that it actually kills an opponent–other than mud crabs, of course, will be sadly and bitterly disappointed at the false advertising. Oh, one more thing, I actually upgraded my Oblivion installation to 1.1 (or whatever it is) so I could play the Mehrune’s Razor quest. I hesitated to do this because I loved making heavy use of the Kvatch perpetual money exploit. So, before I upgraded the game I built up a savings of 5.4 million dollars because I knew the exploit would be removed, and sure enough, it was indeed gone after the upgrade. For those who don’t know about the exploit it works like this: 1) EQUIP yourself with your most expensive weapon 2) Go to kvatch on horseback 3) While sitting on your HORSE–and you must be on your horse, talk to the Orc merchant and sell her the expensive weapon you EQUIPPED yourself with. A message will appear saying “unable to unequip item” but she gives you the money anyway! So, you just sit there hitting SELL SELL SELL over and over again and the item is never removed from your inventory. Works like a charm! As long as you are using the original Oblivion install and have not upgraded at all, the exploit works perfectly. You can actually empty your XBox game cache to remove the update and reenable the exploit, but you would clear the cache for all your games and possible whatever expansion modules you’ve already downloaded.
